Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on the 28th of October, 1967 as the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Her family is the fourth Roberts family that been a resident of Atlanta. This began with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was a farm. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in the theatre at a young time. When he was a college students at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he participated in many performances. He joined the military in 1953. During his time stationed in Biloxi Mississippi was cast in the military's production, which featured Betty Lou Bredemus who was part of the air force. In 1955, they got married and, in 1956, their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter and his wife were discharged from the military in the year 1957 and enrolled Walter at Tulane University. The family relocated in 1960 into Decatur Georgia where Walter began working with Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter as well as Betty Lou financed their own production of a local Sunday morning show for children, Bum Bum and His Buddies. In 1964 Betty Lou and Walter founded The Actors and Writers Workshop. It lasted for 6 years. Lelisa Billingsley often referred to as Lisa, was born in the year 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
