Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the virtues of family football scholarships and volunteering for the community. First family, he's the youngest of nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie. The family lived on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he played alongside three brothers in Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the country by Outland and Lombardi Awards. He won two championships and 32-1-1 in his three seasons as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received a scholarship for the third time in the year 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's diploma from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work during his college years. He moved to Tampa after college, played with the Buccaneers for nine seasons and was three-times all-pro. His business career began. He was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 young men in the US. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs when he was a student athlete. He captained the 1975 team. In 1993, he was a part of his current position at University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
